SuperSelf is a book written by Charles J. Givens that provides a made-for-you roadmap on how to achieve your goals – both personal and professional. This is not a one click answer to all of your problems. It's a book written long before the internet boom and before Facebook was the first thought on everyone's frontal lobe. A small investment of ten dollars in this book can be worth thousands of times what the person who acts with the secrets revealed by Charles will pay.
Action plans, dreams, and goals just don't sound like 3 things that will lead to an exciting weekend. However, after reading Charles J. Givens' Superself, they seem to be words that have been running through my head for over 10 years. Instead of the hyperbole we are so used to being inundated minute by minute with items like our iPhones, iPads, Kindles, and Plasmas, this book will logically and calmly explain a very easy way to reach all your goals.
You can't achieve what you don't believe
The first step to achieving your goals is to write them down. Anyone who has attended a 25 year self-help seminar has seen this notion pounded in their heads. Sadly, this is 100% true. Like Given states without a clearly defined goal, one simply cannot create the plan of action to achieve it.
Givens Action Plan Action Plan
- Write down each step that will lead you to your goal
- Rank them from the simplest to the most difficult
- Add a strict time when each step will be completed
- If necessary, create substeps inside each step to move around
Remember – you can't eat an elephant in one bite. You have to cut them into a million pieces and chew each one of them.
Action plans really are the unspoken secret to successful goal setting and, more importantly, a successful goal. When a logical, well-thought-out action plan is clearly written on a piece of paper, it shows the goalscorer where and how to do each step. Without action plans, you will not achieve your goals successfully on a consistent basis.
As you create your steps through your action plan, your goals will eventually turn into achievements. As Charles says "The funny thing is that your goals become a lost conclusion". This means that as you become more proficient in creating and taking action, your goals will become automatic.
Let's not forget one of the most important aspects of Superself, and that is the dreams.
Without dreams there are no goals to reach.
Without dreams Apple computers and Ford Mustangs wouldn't exist.
Without dreams the guy who was a nerd in high school would never end up marrying the prom queen ten years after they both graduated from high school.
Before starting to dream too much about one of Givens' mentors, the great Napoleon Hill summed it up in a very poignant statement – A goal with no deadline is just a dream.
In closing Charles wanted all of his readers to remember first that you have to have a dream, then decide that it has become a goal to achieve at some point, then you have to create plans for it. action to achieve this goal.
