If you have a home business with an exclusive product that you own and control, sooner or later you might start thinking about going to bigger companies and see if they will want to sell it.
The only problem is there are horror stories all the time about how people take their products to bigger companies only to be told no and then see an exact duplicate of their product sold a few months later .
Is this a real issue you should be worried about?
Yes and no.
Yes, it’s a real concern but no, it’s not something you necessarily need to worry about.
Because, you see, fair or not, there will always be people who will see your idea and rip you off without shame or remorse.
But you can’t let that stop you. Although there are bad apples out there, most companies are honest and won’t rip you off.
And on top of that, a lot of companies are afraid of being sued for this same thing.
There are lawsuits going on right now where a guy worked for a company for 20 years, told someone his idea, got fired or quit later, then had his product idea used by this same company.
And from what I’ve been told, most companies will avoid this at all costs.
So what I’m saying in all of this is if you have a really wonderful product that people want and are willing to pay for, go gold.
Try to get other big companies to sell it. Announce the living daylights. Don’t worry too much about someone stealing it and pull as much cash as you can while it’s in demand.
Plus, if you keep up to date with the latest and greatest marketing tactics, you’ll always be one step ahead of thieves and sharks anyway.
