The Holy Grail of Options Trading

One of my favorite movies growing up was Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. You might remember this movie starring Harrison Ford and Sean Connery on a quest to find the “holy grail” before the bad guys get their hands on it.

Towards the end of the film, the villains try to distinguish which cup is the real Holy Grail among a wide variety of chalices. The problem was that the real Holy Grail was not labeled and if you drank from the wrong cup you would end up dying. The villain grabs a shiny gold cup and walks in for a long drink, thinking it must be the right cup based on his looks, but unfortunately he didn’t choose wisely. It ages 100 years in 30 seconds and withers to ashes.

Indiana Jones, on the other hand, opts for the more modest cup and ends up drinking the water of the true “holy grail”. His reward for choosing wisely is eternal life. In the end, the good guy wins.

The reason I bring up one of my favorite childhood movies is because since starting The Trading Profit, I’ve taught thousands of students that the “holy grail” of trading is consistency. All options traders are looking for a strategy that works in all market conditions, is easy to manage, generates reliable income, and produces consistent results. The My Put Writer Alert service is designed to meet all of these needs.

Since its launch in October 2015, the strategy has produced over 130 winning trades in a row, thanks in part to a special adjustment technique that I use to correct losing option trades.

Surprisingly, we only adjusted about 13% of these trades and all of these adjustments resulted in winners. In fact, these special adjustments made more money than the credit received from the initial trades!

The hardest part of this incredible winning streak is telling people who have never heard of us. We immediately get a reaction that oscillates between disbelief and shock. Most people think it’s too good to be true.

When I think of my Put Writer system, it reminds me of the Holy Grail scene from the movie Indiana Jones. Strategy is exactly what everyone is looking for, but it’s the modest choice that often gets overlooked. It’s not a complicated, flashy show aiming for home runs. Nor does it rely on fancy indicators or top-secret duplicate software that very few have access to. Instead, it’s a simple strategy aimed at realistic and consistent gains that can be traded in just 20 minutes a week.

A common objection to writing puts is that the risk/reward ratio is too low. This is usually the response from traders who look for the big home run strategies that work at first, but then wipe their accounts later. They overlook the power of compounding and small, consistent wins over time. It’s more than a small oversight…

Smart money is about consistency and when done correctly, option writing can provide that holy grail that is so important to long-term success. Don’t let the holy grail of commerce slip away because you’re focused on finding the next shiny goblet. Choose wisely and all you have to do is dip your cup and drink.
