Telling bail bonding stories, unlike most campfire stories, does not always end well. In fact, the ends can be scary, or perhaps serve as a warning to the reader.
One of the most difficult things to use to become a bail agent released; hours. Unfortunately, people do not always stop between normal business hours. Late at night or in the wee hours of the morning is no longer the norm.
This tale originates from the holiday season. A high-level couple rented a vacation home in a privileged area about 100 kilometers north of the city of Los Angeles. However, what began as a wonderful holiday memory has quickly become a haunting nightmare.
Domestic violence is not tolerated nowadays. Growing up in Detroit, in a neighborhood of Italian, Polish and Hungarian couples, domestic quarrels were commonplace. As the houses were so close to each other, it was easy to hear the housewives prepare dinner, especially in the summer when the windows were open. Air conditioning being a luxury, almost all houses in the neighborhood were lacking. It was a long time ago and a lot of things have changed.
If you remember the TV show Adam 12, Malloy and Reed would be called to participate in a family dispute. One of the agents was talking to the man involved in the dispute and the other officer was talking to the woman about the conflict. A little discussion, a notice of calm, and they were going to patrol the streets of the restless and agitated city.
Domestic violence is no longer treated lightly. This seems to be a problem of responsibility. In the previous example, there was a little calm and the officers were gone, but if after the officers were gone, the man from the house grabbed a chopper and cut the mistress in fish food. Perhaps the responsibility lies with the officers, the municipality or both. The perception seems to be that if an arrest had been made, a violent act, in this case a murder, would not have taken place. Avoid possible prosecution and make an arrest.
Back to our vacation couple.
The romantic get-a-way has become ugly for some reason and screams have followed. By the way, shouting usually encourages neighbors to read it. According to my experience, it is usually a neighbor who calls the authorities. The police unit or sheriff arrives and rather than just chatting, they make an arrest. Leaving the courts to settle everything.
In this story, the very prominent woman was arrested. Shocked and frightened by the repercussions at her workplace, she could not believe that a high-volume dispute would lead to an arrest.
I must add that because of the high profile nature of this person, it was the fastest version I have ever seen. The reason; the other detainees did not like this type of "Barbie" in the prison. In order to prevent incidents, the responsible guards wanted to remove her from the general detention a.s.a.p. I do not blame them. No county wants a celebrity scandal or a horrible incident to happen.
The argument is a good thing, that is, if you follow the true definition of the term, but shouting and uttering threats is a completely different matter.
This tale has a simple message: someone always listens and is probably a neighbor. Pay attention to your temperament.
